Take 5 tea bags

Add to 1/2 pint of boiling water

Allow to cool and remove bags. Drop in anything that you want derusting.

Leave for a few days.

Voila rust free. :P

Apparently the tannins in tea react with the iron oxide and the resultant chelated iron drops off into solution.

Trouble with coke is it contains carbonic acid that will corrode metal. :P

I did paint my subframe.......but its rusty again, should have got it powder coated :roll:

I'd do it in 2 halfs :wink:

I needed a new subframe tbh the rust had had its wicked way with it.........Riplash should still have my willy one (long story, but i class him a as a stoner twat) 1 year latter still no subfame

Rob....when you last speak to him?

By the way this works.

I made a brew and dropped in my tow hook. The hook had rust on it, but would have been too fiddly to sand with paper.

2 days in cold tea and shiny bear metal is starting to appear through and the rust is literally dropping off into suspension, where it falls to the bottom as a black sediment.

I will change the tea tonight and get some pics up asap. The clips that hold the horn in place are also in tea and they too are back to bear metal...


Amazing stuff.

I cant get the black goo from the bottom of the jar off my fingers. Been stained for 3 days now. :shock:
