Coolant temp

I remember reading about this a while ago but really can't remember where..

My car seems to run between 2nd and 3rd major lines on the coolant temp gauge. Tends to go up to the 3rd a lot. I know they get hot but is this normal and would it be wise to possibly fit a low temp fan cut in? Not sure when this would cut in?

That's normal, totally pointless fitting the low temp fan switch unless it's very highly tuned.
Also, if the temp does go up too much it means something is wrong & a lower temp switch or thermostat wont fix the problem of it getting too hot in the 1st place
