View Full Version : Momentary Brake Failure

My brakes stopped working earlier tonight, just rolling through town in light traffic, heard a clunk that sounded like I'd driven over a loose manhole cover. As I rolled into a layby they started to work again. Turned everything off, gave em a pump and checked in the streetlight that nothing had apparently fallen off or come loose under the car or around the wheels.

Drives fine now. Had a corroded line and (bias?) valve replaced last week as part of MOT.

Any thoughts?

Can't check til morning, but the grinding noise alludes to it. FFS. :(

Yep. A pad fell out. Marvellous.

Always happens on a bank holiday.

Rear calipers, there's that annoying slide "pin" the holds the pads in place...cars are old now big bump in road... Bosh out it comes :-(

ai, if the linch pin comes out the pad holder slides out and then the pad follows

honestly mate NO i havent LOL ive only just the past week done the front pads and discs on the willy 1 and 3. im gaining a bit more confidence all the time, but when it comes to brakes it does worry me. but it was only cos my mechanic friend showed me how easy the fronts were to do.
