if so ,why are the relocated brake caliper mounting holes not staying
where they were horizontally ??

Because the offset of the discs is different

If using ren 21 txi 285 discs then offset is 9.2mm less and disc is 0.5mm thicker than std willy. If my research scribbles are right!

Sounds right, i had to file down my pads a bit to get the calipers on...

just thought i would mention that scenic 300mm discs will fit your hub just incase you wanted to go bigger.

scenic 2003 on 1.9dci 2.0 16v and 2.0t 16v front disc size diameter 300mm thickness is 24mm height of disc when set on a flat surface when measured through the large hub hole is 44mm and the hub hole is 61mm across.stud holes are the same as the clio.

If i compare this to a Clio Sport the sizes are exactly the same other than the diameter...
Although 280 with good pads is more then enough!
