Fitted the williams engine to my 19 16v and started up yesterday .
without the throttle cable even fitted she starts up and reaches 2000rpm straight away then starts creeping up to 3-3.5k rpm gradually ,the engine will thankfuly die if i block the icv which means there is not a leak on the inlet manifold etc .
it feels almost like the ICV is being opened further more as the engine keeps sucking .

I have tried 3 different icvs and the result is the same . i checked the icv wiring which seems to be fine but having no idea what the measurements have to be i could not check all 3 connectors with a multimeter .
However the icv is being primed when the ignition is turned on .

Also suspect the ecu , which is fitted with a chip carrier and is currently holding a summeh 180 chip in there .
I have changed 2 throttle bodies again there is no difference .

anyone experienced similar before ??
I know it will turn out to be something really simple and stupid

Next on cards is to swap the ecu with the one from my R9
on monday but till then please fire away da ideas :P 8) 8)

Does it keep on going past 3.5k rpm? I've got no idea if the ICV is even capable of revving the engine that high or not :?

Have you tried a different throttle body? That's all I can think of atm

Sounds like an air leak to me I had a similar problem that was down to an injector o ring. Suppose could be bad TPS.

airleak how mate ?? the engine dies when i block the icv
meaning it starves of air hence no leak

ISCV fully open definatly capcable of revving the engine to 4K+ rpm

Ecu changed to a 1.8 16v one and it starts idleing normal but straight away
starts climbing up to 2k rpm ,luckily it wont go over that .

Can someone confirm 1.8 16v ecu will not make the williams engine
idle like this ??

doesn't mean there's no leak, just not enough to keep the engine running.

Does sound like the ICV is sticky though, soak it in brake cleaner then fluch all the crap out, then lubricate it back up with some wd40

allready done that with 3 different icvs Dan .

Figured out it was the tps that was causing the high idle .
Adjusted it by eye to match the one on my R9 now the engine
starts up at 1000rpm but slowly goes up to 1300rpm and back down
ramdomly but at least its driveable untill i can get it set up perfect .

still got a p/s leak from one of the pipes on the rack which is my
next on the list to fix or go manual . lol
