Hello Everyone!

Been reading the forum for several weeks now you all seem like a friendly helpful bunch!

I owned a williams years ago but now really fancy another one! :D

This is my preference

First Choice - A Mint Williams 1, because its the original, lightest and because of the plaque etc!

Second Choice - A Mint Williams 3, Because its the last cars made, the stunning monaco blue colour and its got all the extras!

Will pay up to 4k for the right car :)

Anybody know of a first class example for sale?

Firstly hello and welcome to the forum!
So your a bit of a voyeur then :P Just Kidding.

I will answer your last question first. No.

Your 4K budget would have to double to try convince any member to part with his/her Williams.

And finally you've made one big bogey by excluding the phase 2 williams from your list.

hello there nice to meet you :)

I have always thought the williams 2 as a bit pointless and from what i can gather most people always want a 1 or a 3 they dont say OH I REALLY WANT A WILLIAMS 2

so do you think 4k wont get me a good car? do i need to spend more?

i have seen a 3 on pistonheads for £4950 from a dealer but i thought that was a bit to steep! if its as good as they make it out to be in your opinion is it worth virtually 5k?

Thank you for any help i am given!

[Tin hat on at the ready for all the Williams 2 Owners]

Welcome buddy!

Don't rule out a Williams 2 though. The 1s are definitely my faves, but the 2 doesn't suffer from a leaky sunroof (as it doesn't have one  ), and with the abundance of 2s on the market, it seems that they come round more often for breaking and parts and that might play in to your hands if you need to replace bits to get the 'mint' car you are looking for.

At the end of the day though, all Willys are car porn!

thank you wobba and mg1980!

i will keep my options open and maybe just buy on condition and not be bothered if its a 1,2 or 3

Briefly looking at the trio..
From a drivers point of view the 1 and 2 are the same. The 3 has the ABS.

From a collectors point of view the 1 in the UK has the dash plaque and considered the original because of that.
Elsewhere in the World ( there are williams outside the UK ) there are numbered phase 2's. Oh but their left hand drive I hear you say. Well so is the Intergrale and from a collectors point of view and going by asking prices today of that ICONIC car, that means squat zilch nada nothing.

From an enthusiasts point of view the Trio all have distinct differences and we enjoy noticing them and as Andy said, each to their own.

Looking at the dealer prices and as you know they have to offer warranty and obviously make a profit to pay the wages and bills.

Anyone selling a mint Williams is either desperate or gone in the head. You have to zone in on the best you can buy and make it happen!

Oh and there's one more Williams I forgot to mention. The Swiss Champion.

Thanks.

The only thing I would like to add is that "imports" may be of less value when it comes to putting a price on a car. That could apply to any country.

So genuine UK only registered Williams should for your own benefit be looked after and then perhaps fetch a premium.
I'm no expert in the buying and selling of cars, vintage classic or whatever. I'm only going by what I've heard or been told.
