View Full Version : Hi - Williams 3
Hi,
Just a quick introduction, I made a gamble on this on eBay. I'm really enjoying ownership so far. It needs a little TLC but it's generally only surface rust and some servicing.

Vry nice. Welcome along buddy
Well she passed the MOT the second time round :D
The original failure was on rear o/s brake performance and handbrake performance, so with a replacement caliper and some advice from MatBrown and some fresh pads she went through the MOT. As the header tank has seen better days, this is next on the list for replacement, I picked one up from eBay, so it shouldn't be long until this is swapped out.

Well played mate.
Hello and welcome!
Looks stunning!
Well most of the mechanical work is now done, with special thanks to Mick at Diamond Motors for sorting out the cambelt, tensioner and aux belt, especially in light of a previous bodge which had damaged the crank lock position bolt.
Now it's just a case of getting getting the carpet swapped out then replace the front springs as they're just too low, guessing they're about a -60mm drop, so when I get chance I think some Apex springs with a -30mm drop will sort it out. I've then got plans to replace the backbox on the exhaust, I'm not certain what make it is but it's a 3" bore and protrudes too far from the rear bumper and is too boomy so needs to go, I'm looking for a 2" bore Magnex backbox or similar.
Any recommendations on springs / backboxes would be welcomed.

The sunroof has started to leak so following the how to guide I'm ready to start trying to get the headlining down so I can get the sunroof out!

So has mine! Let me know how you get on as it is a job I am intending to do, too.
Also, where is the guide?
Here's the link to the guide, it was very useful in knowing which bits need to come down and in which order:

Getting to the stage in the photos took a few hours, mainly through seized fittings. To get the headlining out without damaging it is going to be the biggest hurdle.

i had the same prob with the sunroof leaking, but i got a sunroof specialist out and he sorted it, that was nearly a year ago now and so far its been dry inside, good luck with your project

It was a great day, couldn't have asked for better weather and the track is great, pushed the brakes to the limit, so will be looking for some upgraded pads at some stage soon.
Good on you mate, willy be great up the mountain? Cadwell is a fun place. :-)
