I'm sure this should be posted in the events thread, but just wanted to test interest.

Is anybody planning to go to Le Mans next year? It would be great to get a convoy of Williams' heading down (if there isn't already).

Friend of mine owns/runs White Rabbit Racing. They have a guest house and camp site in the grounds just outside Arnage (about 20 mins walk to the main gate), and we could a) get a cheap deal for camping in a well run site (no knob heads, fireworks, etc!) b) Get our own dedicated area.

It's only a small site (about 80 pitches), but last year we got some great cars. I had use of a Delta Evo 2 as my runabout, and we had DB4/DB5/DBS/911GT3RS/2 V6s etc. We also had the Toyota LMP1 media crew on site, and they gave us their access all areas passes for the Sunday!!

The other good bit is the site backs on to a small field. Cross that field, and you find yourself on the fence, at the end of the Mulsanne Straight, by Portsche Curves!!

If there is interest, I will find out costs and post this up in events.

Cheers!

I'd love to go, and a convoy of William's would be awesome. My old Uncle wants to go down one year too, but he says my car may not be his first choice for such a long journey lol :D

Try driving a Lancia Delta 500 miles. It blew its hoses off plenty of times!!
Le Mans is so great, 3 days of racing (with other makes), last year we had Razorlight and a few others headlining a stage, and the ticket was about 70 Euros from memory. It is so cheap, especially when you throw in a BBQ and some of those cheap stuby bottles of french lager!!

Steer clear of the Guiness tent though. If you get sucked in, you are unlikely to see more than 8 laps in 24 hours! Ha!!

I'd be interested, although would need to check out the dates with the family. I'd be happy to convoy down but it is highly unlikely I would take the Williams I'm afraid.

Sure there will be a few spare passenger seats buddy. I know there is a big group from cliosport heading down too. Figured a convoy of Willys would look great though!!

Yes,it would. And in their 'home' country too - would probably get a lot of interest along the route. Cheers for the offer of a passenger seat but I would probably still drive down there in something if I went but just not in the Willy as it still seems a bit fragile for such a long trip at the moment - I might have got some more work on it done and have the confidence by then though I suppose.

One of my ambitions to go - would love to take the Williams too... keep us informed of prices etc.

Hmmm, I'm also tempted. Maybe few of my mates would come along too.

What's the average cost not including the trip there (tickets, camp, parking, etc...)?

Cost is much cheaper than you think. If you split the costs below with a passenger, it will cost you naff all!

Le Shuttle - £70 each way
Petrol (from London) - £80 each way
Race ticket (3 days of practice, Porsche cup, qualifying, classics) - £70
Camping (including parking, showers, etc.) - £25 per night approx.
Spends - £300 for five days if you smash it. £150 if you bring a BBQ and buy crates of cheap lager!

If you are careful and share with a passenger, you could do everything you need for 4/5 days and spend £400 - 450 all in!!

This is a rather tempting prospect for me too, especially if I can liven the monotonously coloured convoy up with a proper coloured valver :P

I'll post up a few pics on last year's trip later. I guarantee everyone will want to go!!!

Figured it may be worth starting a list on this to gauge early interest. Not neccessarily a committment, but money and a pass from girlfriends/wives permitting.

i went 2 years ago, was amazing and as above didnt cost that much, i did a little detour via nurburgring and amsterdam and came back on the ferry from rotterdam to hull (initially went from portsmouth to le havre on ferry)

ive still not fixed my clio and doubt i will have it working as i want by then, but i will keep an eye out on here and my come in the type r if the clio is not ready and i funds allow it.

the campsite sounds good as last time i stayed on mulsanne and there was dodgy dutch and danes blowing stuff up, chopping things up with angle griders, making chairs out of shopping trolleys etc lol at mad times in the night haha

Just a thought, but why don't we do a tour of the Renaultsport factory at Dieppe on the way back!? They would let us in if we made it a pilgrimage. I am happy to contact them!

Thought I'd stick out a bump on this as its getting closer. How many takers have we got now. Also, I got a return email from Renaultsport and they are happy for us to do a factory tour and photo shoot outside if anyone is interested... Whack!!

Did I hear homecoming?!

My only thoughts are that this summer there are a lot of big events happening. Olympics, Euro 2012, amongst other local events such as F1 coming to our shore.
But I'm a last minute type of guy so I'll keep my options open.:)

I'll hopefully be down there this year so to meet some of you guys would be top! I went last year too, and like you said MG1980, a great weekend!

Massive bump as it's getting much closer and I'm so excited there is a risk I might piss myself! Any advances yet on Wobba, Flan, Simon and me?

Just to whet everyone's appetite, here are a few pics from last year. The Delta Evo 2 was my ride last year, mainly because the owner was so hammered the entire time!! The attention it got was amazing!! And don't grill me for missing the apex by a mile... I was only doing 20MPH to get a quick photo!!

PS the girl dishing out the awards was the fittest bird I have seen in my entire life... FACT!

All systems go for Le Mans. Just organising the details for White rabbit Racing's campsite. Wobba and Flan (and any others interested), if anyone is short of cash and fancies putting in a shift for a day to help with the set up and running of the campsite during the four days, you will get free pitch in return. Be nice, and you might even get a floor in the attached guest house gratis!!

Now I just need to arrange my Williams Rothmans vinyl wrap for Wilma... Pics to follow!!

Hi Mate,

I'll PM you my number if you want to catch up over there. I'm heading down on the Tuesday, back on the Monday. I'm helping to set up the campsite on the Tuesday and it's traditional that we always go and have a steak and a decent bottle of wine on Sunday evening after the race!

If you want to check out the campsite, see www.whiterabbitracing.co.uk, and if you want to tag on to a convoy, click the link for 'the hutch'. My friends runs it and if I ask him nicely, I may be able to get you in to the adjoining guest house for nowt where we are all staying! Some nice cars there as well. My mates are bringing two 911 Turbos, 911 GT3 RS, DB9, DB6, M3, M5, Lancia Delta Evo II etc. etc.

The site fits about 50 cars and 100 pitches, but it has proper facilities, a cinema screen with the race on and a club house (I guarantee you will not want to stand trackside for over 24 hours!)

I am a bit up in the air with wtf is going on in June right now. I'd love to go down and have some fun still though but I need to get a new passport and fix a few bits on car. Nothing major, but might need to swap gearbox...
