What size is the torx bolt in the centre of the steering wheel? I have tried to search on here and Google for the answer but to no avail.

Thanks,
Pack

They're not all torx head bolts though, I've seen a 21mm bolt and T50 torx bolts on quite a few different mk1's

Does anyone know the bolt size? I got a T50 socket but the previous owner chewed the head so it's unable to get a decent grip so I will be drilling it out.

So what is the size of the bolt so I can get a replacement before drilling the old one out?

Just take the bolt you drill to a nut & bolt shop & get them to give you 1 that matches it & with a big enough washer

You've missed the point (think about it).

So does anyone know what size the bolt is?

Well what are you asking exactly, the size of the thread, length of the bolt or the size of the head?

The size of the head isn't really relevant if you're replacing it. For things like this I just go to a nut & bolt shop & say I want a bolt the same thread size & length as that & that's it.
Whatever size the thread is, the bolt head will always be bigger that the hole it's going into & if it's not quite big enough to overlap the thing it's supposed to be clamping on you use a washer.

I'm guessing here but I'd probably say it's an M10 bolt & no idea how long. But there's no need for all this guesswork  just take what's left of the bolt to a nut & bolt shop & they'll measure it so you get the right 1

How's he going to get there with no bolt in the steering wheel?
I think that's his point Pad.

Or ask your (hopefully cute female) neighbour to take you there! :P

OK for those searching I found out what size it is;

M12 x 1.75

All my problem is now is that the previous owner rounded the torx bolt and I can not remove it :(

get a larger torx, one size up, and bang it in with a mallet, then try to undo it, may or may not work depending on how much meat is left on the head to bite into

or get a freindly garage to tack a bolt onto the head of the torx bolt, then undo as normal ;)

Just drill the head off, then you can remove the wheel and there will be some of the bolt sticking out of the shaft. Grab it with some Vise grips and wind it out, and as you guys say Bobs your uncle.

try using a large lump hammer and a good cold chisel on the side of the head, a good smack and it should release it enough to get off with a pipe grips..
