I'm replacing an oil filter on a 1.4 Energy engine and some monkey tightened it so hard I could not undo it with 1m cheater pipe!

So I used a screw driver to punch some holes in it and then used cheater pipe on that and it slowly let loose. Problem is that I damaged the thread on that insert with the screw driver.

I have a spare 1.7 engine with a perfect thread insert, but I don't know how to take it out without making it useless.

Are all Renault blocks the same and this insert is screwed in or is it pressed in?

Any tips how to unscrew it from the block?

Please help!

This is not Renault engine, but this is the thread I'm talking about (just in case if I wasn't clear enough in the first post).

Try unbolting oil fiter from 1.7 engine and then have a look how is that threaded part secured into the block(1.7 engine). I have a oil filter removal tool if you'll need it.

Id try the 2 bolt type method if you can get some to fit. Put them both on. Tighten the them up then use the one close to the block to undo it. That will press againt the other one and should then should undo the bit you need.

Yeah I thought of that too, but it's kind of hard to get that sort of nuts. It's a fine thread, similar to that one on driveshafts. I have to try if they are the same by any chance.

You can get that bit from renault for a couple of pounds if that's an option for you

Part number is 77 00 66 4746 replaced by 82 00 54 5137 £1.39 according to my dialogys

Well if everything else fails, I'll go and buy it from Renault. It's not about the money, it's the kind of part that's usually on stock in Paris, meaning 10 day wait. :?

You need Diaologys mate!!!!!

That part should be easy to get new or used. Though I know parts are not as easy to get over there :(

I already ordered it through Renault. I just hope Paddy provided the correct part number, because I didn't double check it.

And yeah, part is on stock in Paris, so 10 day delivery time. I'll be abroad for the next half a month, so my sister's car will be off the road for the next 3 whole weeks. :(

Ooops, I need it for 1.4 Energy engine. Well it will fit, but will maybe be a bit too long.

Well, I'll have to improvise... :)

Surely someone can do it? It's not hard!

Again, abroad? You sir, are an international man of mystery!

There are (at least) 2 types of thread insert:
77 00 855 295 suitable for Valver and Williams
82 00 545 137 suitable for Valver and Energy engined Clios

The top 1 of those is for the valver's & willy's that have the oil cooler/heat exchanger
