works better with k/b and mouse on pc but i cant afford one fast enough to run it well, ps3 is cheap as chips and visuals wont be much better...specially not on a comparably priced pc (200 quid max!lol!)

i'm more excited about skyrim though, it looks amazing and i'm a massive rpg geek :-)

I never took you for an RPG-man Benny.

I've played LOADS of RPG's and MMO's. Too many lol.

Yea, played BF3 beta last night and my PC struggled even on low settings.

yeah man, ever since FF7 ate my life back in 1997, was a big WOW fan when it first came out too but not played a MMO for years now, stick to the RPG's mainly demon souls and FF13 on the ps3 atm until skyrim lands

WoW fan huh!

Yea I played from the start for years.

Played loads of UO when I was young too, since 1997/8. I am oldschool :D

Aye teh Skyrim looks nice.

I've just got an i5 2500k and Z68 mobo, and a 6950 HD graphics card and 8 gig sorted out. Oh, and a new SSD ;)

It shifts!

Paddy: You are only allowed to edit posts over on YOUR OWN forums. Bugger off! I'm not old :(

Well, the future is SSD tbh. I reckon conventional drives will just have to get really big and basically act as main slow storage devices if they want to survive.

if they can get the controllers stable they'll be reet, lot of issues with the first gen sandforces already, primarily in sleep/hibernate useage, lots of drives seem to brick coming out of sleep. not ideal for business use

plus its very very expensive when your talking in enterprise/server levels.

but a complete flat boot to google in under 30 seconds is a right boon for the home user ;-)

Wobba

It is!

I mentioned SSD to the boss at work as we are about to do our bi-decade server upgrade, but the fact is the tech is still to unstable and expensive really.

I might buy another SSD card if I can stop spending cash on the Williams. Though I have got my eye on another Scooby at the mo hehe, another money pit :p

ai, i cant see them taking off in enterprise environments fully until reliability increases on the cheaper NAND chips and controllers. you can get stupid expensive ones for server application but they are crazy money, and to be honest, for a server its not so much of an issue as the things run 24/7 anyway and most of hours are 64Gb of ram anyway so everything thats used is held in memory! maybe end users would benefit a tiny bit, gut frankly the gigabit network would be the limiting factor at any rate!lol!

and as for rolling them into workstations/laptops....feck that with all the issues i've heard of, again from the cheaper ones that would be viable from a budget pov.

however, for home use, cracking!

Yea, tbh it's a nice thing to say you have on your server at work, but in reality it wont do much due to the limitations of the network bandwidth and other factors.

For my home though, its really neat. Prices are falling, and with SATAIII out now and 6gb/s the data transfer rate is mental for even a £70/80 SSD.

So last night I settled down to take some pot shots at a few jets and tanks with my bazooka in BF3.

So there I am, minding my own business killing people, and BAM! I am dead. It seems some cur called Arj256 has shot me in the head from behind, the coward!!!

A fine way to greet a fellow Williams fan/owner/ex-owner!

If that wasn't bad enough, the next round found me teamed up in the same squad a this dastardly fiend. I spawn on his location only to find myself in one of the scariest rides of my life in some kind of 4 wheeled death machine, driven very badly by Arj256. ****ing scary wasn't the word for it!

He's a worse driver in cyberspace than he is irl!!!

Was all very lol :)
