My car gets a horrid squeel when I turn the wheel without revving the engine. Its embarrassing at best, and so so annoying. HELP

adjust the aux belt tensioner

slacken the 7mm allen bolt, turn the tensioner with a spanner (21mm IIRC) and re tighten the allen bolt

Be careful not to sheer the teeth off the housing, they are only aluminium and ive seen quite a few where people have butchered them, makes it a real pain to adjust in the car if that has happened.

Ok where is it? Iv not long put an alternator on and could not see where to adjust the belt then. Anyone got a pic or diagram?

The pulley to adjust is number 4.

It's not that hard. Just get an allen key bit in there and a spanner on the built in nut. The allen bit tightens the pulley, the built in nut is turned by the spanner anti clockwise to increase the tension on the belt.

Obviously, take the headlight out first for access.

I dont understand peoples dificulty with this. Support engine on jack, remove upper mount, lift engine carefully, LOADS of access

Its alright for people with the know how and the knowledge to do These sort of things. If you was to put a broken down boiler in front of me, that would be a different story.

Its only very basic knowledge you need though, if something that bolts on is in the way then you remove it to get better access, if that something is an engine mount then you obviously need to stick a jack under the engine to take the weight.
We arent talking rocket science here.

AAAAHHHHHHHRRRRRRGHGGGGGGG I pissing hate this motor! This poxy car and my Skyline are soooooo shitty to work on anything in the engine bay its just a piss take!!!!!

As you can guess I didnt manage to tighten the bloody belt. I jacked up the engine so I could just about get a 7mm allen key in after grinding it down due to it hitting the strut. Took out the head light also, the access on this is stupid. Anyway after all that the allen key would not move.
I have given it a spray with WD40 thrown it all back together so I'll just have to live with it.

VERY nearly beat the car with the socket set grrrrrrrrrrrr
