Literally just anti clockwise and eventually it will release

If you don't want to destroy the OEM gear knob (and the gear linkage) you have to get the whole gear lever housing off the car.

The gear knob is not screwed on. It sits on knurled bar at the end of the gear stick. You have to gently pull it off.

Probably not much use to you but I blowtorch the gearstick below the knob and it then comes off easily.

What is the recommended glue to use when fitting a new one?

Uverapid A. But I guess it's not available in the UK.

Cheers Yanoo, any ideas on an equivalent I can get over here in the UK?

I don't know. Uverapid is a 2 component epoxy glue perhaps a similar glue would be also good. Once I used Loctite high strength thread locker, that fixed the gear knob but it was more difficult to use becasue it was more liquid and I almost glued the reverse-lock slider :D.

Haha, I'll try and avoid that! Cheers for the advice
