dash clocks

hi this 50c keeps flashing at me while driving, obviously its broken but is it ment to be engine temp? anybody kno any common faults?

That display is for the outside temperature, the sensor for this is on the underside of the passenger side wing mirror.
Could be a wiring problem or the sensor itself being knackered

I think mine flashes hen not connected. There is a plug socket for it in the door frame under the cover for the manual mirror adjuster, assuming its a Willy 1.
