Hi all

Does anyone have any info on how much this can cost? For an example, if a rear arch needs doing and then some other small spots, around drain holes, etc?

I've been having a look through Google at other car owner club threads and they seem to all point at anywhere between £500 - £1,000.

Just wondering if anyone has first hand experience with having rust fixed on their Williams by a third party company (i.e. not a mate).

Thanks. :)

As you may know, mine has recently been done. It was done by my cousins garage, This cost me half the price of what it should have cost. (Not aloud to disclose the amount)

IF i was just anybody and they had my car....they would have charged an awful lot more in the end as the rust was extreme once they really started poking about and getting rid of the rust.

There is absolutly no price you could put on this type of work for an estimate. It will always end up more.

Another example was wobba's sill.....Needed welding for an mot the next day, so took it to my cousin....Again, a million times worse than any of us had even realised. I do have a pic somewhere, to show the outside and what was really going on in the inside.

btw, mine was arches and sills

Thanks Leigh-Anne, I didn't know your car had been recently done, I must have missed your thread.

I'm looking at various Williams' that are for sale you see, and I need to know roughly how much haggle room I may have. :)

Are you able to say what the original price would have been? (i.e. don't say what you paid) Or, perhaps safer, can you say if it at least fell into my price bracket stated earlier?

Thanks. :)

Ahh I can't access that, sorry Leigh-Anne. I'm not a paid member (yet).

Sounds like from what you've said, it was quite bad? A couple of the cars I've seen have only surface rust and some bubbling (from the pictures). I plan to arrange a visit to view them first hand as you can't really see everything in pictures.

Thanks again. :)

i was quoted the other week £800 for both arches, cut out welded in and whole side sprayed and blended. but like LA's car, until you poke about you dont know how bad things are under the surface.

and there a reputable company too

Pay more, get it done properly, keep the car.

£800 is a substantial amount! If they do good work then that price is reasonable ish tbh
