We're buying my sister her first car and I persuaded her to go mk1 route. We found a really nice white Clio with AC and all extras, but it's automatic (1.4 engine).

How hard would it be to swap auto box with a manual gearbox?

There's more to it than just swapping the box over tbh.

pedal box, all linkages, gearstick etc etc.

wouldnt have thought itd be all that hard to do, but, also think it could be a bit of a ballache.

Well, linkages and gearstick is easy. I'm worried if there are any extra sensors on auto box, if ECU is the same, etc...

a while ago when gdi was around they were asked to fit an auto box to a williams, ie a reverse of what you want to do. i think they gave up with it as they had ecu problems. would just be easier to buy a manual tbh
