Love it! Start saving now......
Jeremy from Renault (often at RS trackdays) says:
'Obviously, Clio Willliams has a fantastic heritage and is widely acclaimed as one of the best hot hatches ever. We would love to do something equally special with Williams moving forward, but it's far too early to confirm what form our recently signed commercial partnership might take at this stage. The Auto Express article is pure speculation.'
That looks fokkn sick fair play :P :P 8) 8) 8) 8)
Simply gorgeous, 25000 is a bit ouchhh but if i had the spare cash it would be in my garage, This new version of the clio is the nicest one since the 1st i think.
I think they should give us all one for keeping the name alive and being so dedicated to the cause ???
would be a good sign off for the current shape clio imho. if the story can be believed. it wouldnt surprise me if there was one released, but it would be garbage if it was a sticker and wheels job. if its going to be as special as the article says, 240+bhp decent colour/wheels/susp package, then i think i could even be tempted to stick my name down for 1. no.15 or 951 for me please.
Looks rubbish imo, too big and heavy. They should do a Twingo Williams instead which are a similar size and weight to the original Williams
Looks cool, deffo don't do a twingo!! How gay would the be!
That's gonna be highly tunned to get 240bhp NA
Should be rad! Plus it might even make the originals look cooler!
LOL, and Clio's aren't gay?
I think it looks ridiculous, and £25k?! I'd rather spend that kind of money on an Elise, a proper sports car. Anyway, doesn't matter what I think, if Renault end up making this bloated, over weight, over priced piece of crap it will no doubt sell shed loads.

They wont spend the money to do that, they'll just whack a megane engine in there
I think Clio Red Bull would be more actual than a new Williams :D
By the way, I got today the new issue of the Auto Express (it was delivered by James Bond :D). Look at what I found in it:

:D :D This is the prototype of the new Clio V6, it's the Renault Clio VSixiams. Coming soon :D :D
Lol Yanoo :)
Paddy, if they go turbo...it wont be the same! I want a decent higher compression engine with wilder cams etc!

It's going to be at the end of the production run for the 200 so they're not gonna spend the money to do that plus it probably wont conform to the latest EU bullshit regulations on emissions either, they'll only use stuff from the existing parts bin to build it if they build it at all
you mean like they did with the williams originally?? ;)
i think if they do produce it, itl be boosted and maybe a 1600......
as above the emmissions will kill it otherwise.
and the vee reminds me of chris' ps from many moons ago at the used car buyer mag.

whats the weight of it then ?? :?:
The 200 Cup is 1200kg so around this at a guess
I'd actually consider a new one, not at 25k though. I'd pay half that!!!

Your not going to get a brand new clio for £12.5k these days.
Yeah I know that. Perhaps 2-4 years old.

Totally different kettle of fish though, the williams was built with some major mechanical upgrades over the car it was based on & sold for homologation purposes.
This 1, if it gets done will be purely a sales & marketing excercise  there's no way in hell renault will spend money on putting any different kind of engine in a car at the end of it's production run
Agree that it'll be the same engine, but it will have tweaks and more power. IF it comes out!
Under the skin, the newcomer will benefit from a significant makeover. Expect the aggressive 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine to get a boost in power from 197bhp to around 240bhp
Honda make 2.0 240bhp N/A engines that are still reliable so it is certainly possible, but I cant see renault managing it any time soon TBH
Be great news for us all if they do though, especially if they can just make it so it doesnt handle well, LOL

But are Honda still allowed to sell them in Europe? I read that the euro5 emissions regulations are what killed off the civic type-r as it couldn't meet them and those regs also caused a delay in delivery of new clio 200's last year when they came into force as Renault were struggling to make the necessary alterations for the engines to meet those regs.

As someone who's worked in the auto industry for 16 years, I can tell you that Auto Express are the masters of making stuff up to make a good headline....
Believe it when you see it....
