I have fitted a new bonnet today but cant seem to get the drivers rear side to sit nicely against the door. The 2 keep colliding. Any hints/tips/secrets please?! I now have my carbon fibre bonnet for sale in the 'items for sale' forum

Are you sure the car isn't accident damaged? You could place some washers where the bumper mounts to space it out a bit

No accident damage - it sits fine when the nuts are loose. Just seems to push it back when I tighten everything. Haynes says the rear of the bonnet can be adjusted by moving the bonnet lock on the bulkhead, but I can't quite seem to get it to sit nicely. Frustrating!

Sounds like u've tightened one side up more than the other

I've tried many different combinations LA! Can't get it to sit nice. But maybe I am tightening too much?

Take the front grill off, then use a 13mm ratchet spanner to loosen the nuts holding the bonnet in place.

Then try & position the bonnet to where you want it to sit, once you've got it in position, tighten the nuts on the hinges by going in through the grill :wink:

EDIT: It's possible that something on this bonnet could be slightly bent & that's stopping it sitting right

Possibly, but it was the same situation with the bonnet I took off. So the hinges on the car may be slightly out?? Thanks, but I've tried tightening the nuts with the bonnet shut up through the grill. The annoying thing is that I can get it to sit fine without the nuts loose then as soon as I tighten them...........aarrgghhh!

Hmmmmmmmm :-k the hinges do have a lot of play in them usually, I always thought this was to allow for adjustments to be made so the bonnet can sit straight.

It does sound like something could be bent though as it wouldn't take much of a bend to throw things out of line

Its not a pattern bonnet it is?

If so you will never get it to fit right.

If its a genuine one, then keep playing with adjusting it, possibly including bending the hinges if you have to.
