Finally got round to finishing the lowering today after finally getting my head around the rear spline. This 'lowering it by 1 spline' still doesnt make any sense whatsoever, so just did what everyone else was saying, both splines out, and jack the beam up to desired height.

Before. No idea what was going on here, i think this was stripped out by the owner before the guy who i bought it off, who tried to restore it to standard and looks to me as though the suspension had been made a hash of!

Any way, before;

After, not quite go the right stance but my previous 16v was exactly the same, i think its due to only being 45mm drop on the front, not quite right, so looks a tad higher at the front, but im leaving it for now, going to get some coilovers soon.

The biggest ****er of all was getting the rubber top mouns of the struts. WHAT A ****ER OF A JOB! They just would not come off, spent 3 hours on them, just on solid, so here's what i ended up doing which is what i wish i had done in the 1st place as it was so much quicker!

Good job I had some old 16v struts lying around too!

Firstly using a drill bit i peppered the whole of the top mount with drill holes and then with a flat head screwdriver punched them all so they linked and broke the hold.

This was the result when I broke the rubber damper away

Then the strut just fell out once the correct hub nuts were undone

I then had to take an angle grinder to this strut to get the rubber gator off as I needed it for my perished one on the old struts! Horrendous job! Glad its all done now!
