First thing. WHAT A JOKE.

Im 29 8 years NCB and im trying to insure this 2nd car. Getting quotes of 2.5k, £1900 £1500.

The problem I have is that effectively Im having to start a second policy. NO companies will apply your NCB to a 2nd car.

Anyone have any experience of this. Need HELP!?

I was expecting to be paying about £400! £500 TOPS!

Yeah I can. Admiral are the best so far @ 1700 for my vectra and hybrid, which comes in about £75 p/m over the 12 if you split it 50/50 which I suppose on that basis isnt too bad, STILL EXCESSIVE THOUGH!

A few have told me that its due to the fact im in Preston (not I only have a Preston postcode!, not in the cntre or anywhere near!), has a high rate of blah blah blah.

Wow, that does sound excessive with your good record. Many moons ago I got a company to give me NCB based on one of my other policys with them, and since I later moved to other companies I have carried on building up NCB years on each of them separately now. Maybe noone offers that anymore these days though. Try your current insurer to see how much they would charge for an extra car? Can you get cheap classic or limited mileage insurance for the valver with someone? Or it might work out cheaper to swap the current insurance with 8 yrs NCB to the other car if that is seen as a high risk and then if you are forced to start from scratch with 0 NCB on the policy at least it is on the cheaper car?

Ill try a couple of your points here. My current insurer wanted £1200 for a separate policy for the hybrid.

1996, is this old enough for a classic policy?

AA say;

Trying to find cover for your classic car? If you're over 25 years old and your car is standard build, over 15 years old and you do less than 7,500 miles a year, then we can help.

It should be. I think it depends on the type of car as much as the age. My Williams is 1995 and on a classic policy, so quite close to what you have, but I also have a car from 2005 that they accept as a classic for insurance!
