I need some ideas for my build. I know that there are other threads with similar title, but I've looked through them all and I would like some fresh material.

I would like to have a blue cam cover (but I will consider anything), so if anyone has something similar... :D

I just painted one of my spare cam covers with 4 different colours I had at hand. I will post some pics tomorrow. But it's kind of sad to be the only one to post a pic in my own thread! FAIL!

So POST SOME PICS!!! :D

I think either of those would go quite well with that bay. Would you paint the inlet manifold too, so no bare metal on show?

Don't think it will be much help in coming up with your colour scheme robi but I'll psot a pic of my bay...

There is a slight amount of 'Samco blue' colour visible there though!

I don't know who's car this is (I hope he doesn't mind that I posted this pic), but I had something like this in mind.

But I don't know if it's the same colour as the rest of the car, with or without metallic (I would prefer without)...

Looks good Danny! I would prefer it in matte blue, but that's personal preference.

Also if I try to imagine it (just this shade of blue) in my engine bay, I think it would be a bit bright?

I did a quick test with 4 spray cans (ignore the quality of work)

It's hard to get a feeling for colour from a photo, but I'm leaning towards the 2nd from the right side. What do you think? Could someone photoshop this into 4 different cam covers to get a better idea?

Possibly black, but I don't mind how it is at the moment, as it's been sprayed silver and is currently in very good condition :)

A person who's opinion I value very much said that 2nd from the right is the best one. So it will probably be in a shade close to that one.

Minichapperz

second from the left imo

robi1000

Grrr, it's 2 votes for the second from the left and 2 votes for 3rd. Grrr... Decisions, decisions. But that were my finalists too, so it's all good. :)

The photo with the flash, I'd go for 2nd from the right. The photo without the flash I'd choose 2nd from the left. Hope that helps

If I were you, I'd coat the rocker cover with black matt coarse powder (like the Ferrari's or Honda's red rocker cover). A decent powder coating workshop could do it.

I was considering this coarse finish too, but it will be in blue, that's for sure. Exact shade and finish is still debatable. :D

Just to add another pic to your thread this is my bay, not a williams unfortunatly but my little R5 GTT

With ref to your colours 2nd from left I would choose but I would be tempted to do it in williams blue if I had a williams :D

It's hard to make a photo that accurately portrays colours in the same way they actually are. 2nd blue is actually more violet then blue.

http://s7.mojalbum.com/williams-10-t-x-foto_10833367_17460890_18824805.jpg

Maybe a bit closer to actual colours. It's more obvious that 2nd one is a bit violet.

this was a similar idea but i painted the inlet, and all the mountings blue, polished the timing and rocker cover and polished the lifting eye too, came up like a mirror, although did take some seriuos buffing with proper buffing wheel and soap/wax
