What do you think? would you?

Basically been offered 5k for my williams from a good friends brother on px against his 172 cup. Said I wasn't interested, but he said he'll come round and see if i've changed my mind at the weekend.

Erm, that was me voting for the Cup

Just sounds like a very good price for Williams, that's all. Depends if you can get the Cup for a good price though I spose...

must be mad if you swap your williams fella

172's are easy to buy, there everywhere....keep your willy for as long as poss, get a 172 when there cheaper and the new horrible looking clio has come out

172 cup is standard with 14k. He wants my car and 2k. His car is up for £7200

Don't worry people i'm not selling up 8) I just wondered what people would do if they were offered the same deal.

ditto, i'd test drive it as £5k is a good price... having said that the Cup will only lose value, which is a shame as they are better looking/performing 172 and I like em a lot. the willy will start going up in value before too much longer, getting rare now... up to you tho, another year and how much will the MK2's be worth? that would be my concern

Depreciation on the cup is one issue. Another one is that feeling you get driving a williams and knowing its something a bit different. I didn't get that driving the cup. It was just as quick as the williams but just didn't feel nice if you know what I mean. Plus when people point and ask questions about the williams it makes you smile and feel good. I'm sure there would be none of that with a cup.

Not new though, surely? :?

No not new, new doesn't mean better.

I definately wouldn't buy new, because I don't really fancy anything I could afford new. Don't like the idea of losing money at such a startling rate either!

But to some, new is definately better, and for quite valid reasons. So in some respects it is.

i think that is an excellent price and is deff worth consideration, never again will u get offered such a good price with the option of upgrading to a pretty decent car tbh. however, even at that price i "probably" wouldnt sell, this is just becasue i love williams' so much, just ask Tom_16v abt that! but if you arent that bothered and want a cheaper car to run...........then i would

I don't get where all this "williams are expensive to run" stuff comes from TBH. Mine hasn't cost me much at all. Certainly no more than any other car.

If you enjoy driving it, why not?

Cups are awesome fun. And better to drive on a daily basis.

I'd get the Cup. A Williams is worth say £3k~4k I'd guees an he's oferin you £5k so your 1k up IMO.
The Cup is an excllent car its not a Williams but that not a good or bad thing change is intetresting.
Seems he realy wants to swop so you might be ble to get some better figures to swop.
The only thing is can you realy bear to swop some people get to attahed to what they know in which case why even risk change.

He loves the look, noise etc of my car. Likes the exclusivity of the williams. The admiring glances. All the stuff i'd miss.

All the stuff that ontop of superior handling makes the Williams even better

The buyer clearly likes your car. Sell the Williams and take the cash.

Then go buy another cheapo Williams, probably in a bad state. Spend the extra loot bringing it back to original health. In the end, you should have some spare cash and the enjoyment of doing up a decent motor. You win. The buyer wins. And Clio Williams community wins too (with another car back to good health).

Just do it!
