Welcome to the site.

It's a fantastic looking car, one of the nicer ones I've seen for sale recently. Even tempted to sell mine and purchase that one!

I find it's impossible/too risky to tell from foto's the condition of a car. You need to inform yourself and then go see a few.

About this one, the add description is daft, the speedlines have no lip, and as you pointed out the exhaust isnt mounted correctly.

Your getting out of a relatively "new" hatch to go back 16 years. Ask yourself, do you really want a Williams? I guarantee you, if you got out of a Mark3 to save money, your going in the wrong direction!

The problem with a Williams is you've just gotta make an extra effort to keep it going and looking good because in general people expect to see them in very good condition, and to do so costs shed loads.Thats very much my opinion.

I think with a valver you have more flexibility and can get away with a lot more, but will still spend on it nonetheless.

Personally if I were you I would not spend that much on a Williams for track and sprint. Most of the lads on here hop into a valver (usually heavily modified by themselves) and rag them around a track all day long. I know that is probably what I would do now if I was you. Or maybe even a cup?

Welcome btw!

Sprinting is incredibly hard on the car. I ran a Peugeot in compeitions for a few years, similar mileage to the car that is advertised, and there was always something going wrong - AA wrote to me and said they wouldn't pick me up anymore in the end! My backup car was a valver and that never let me down, and won me more events, but it had only 30-40k on it at the time. I have a Williams 1 now on 111k and I don't think that would last long sprinting. I'd go for something like a Trophy these days, for that purpose, tbh.

For a phase up to 2k as for mods on it, if there what i want and could save money thats a bonus. Lower the miles the better. Black.

I thought that he might be after a Clio 172? I must admit this 'phase 1' terminology does confuse me a bit though as you could term it that there are phase 1 of the Williams, 16v, 172, 182, 197? If the OP is set on the early Clio models then I would say that the Williams is a more competitive car for sprinting than the valver would be, unless you run in a region of the country where they split the class at 1800cc, in which case the valver would be a good car to punch at that weight.
