Hi Guys....

Currently at the Ring having fun.
So far had to make various fixes - it is afterall a Clio... :?

Car has started to cut out at igh revs - at random.
Plugs changed, distributor checked, leads checked....

Any good ideas for what to look for?
Going to Spa on Tuesday - so need to fix ASAP.... :?

Probably some electrical problem, earths checked? Check all other electrical connections and wires.

Typical crank sensor troubles with aftermarket ECU's is what i would be blameing.

exactly this. Make sure that there's no power wire running too close to the crank sensor

Will check... Thanks guys... problem is totally random. Feels worse when hot. Was considering temp sensors, crank pos sensor and Renix. (not converted to distributor less system yet - on the to do list)

All connections seems fine.
Had to end my track day at Spa early :-/
Simply to dangerous having the engine cutting out at the top of Eau Rouge at break neck speed....

Having Jean Ragnottis signature on my crash helmet did help my mood a bit - and a drive with the God himself in a Clio III Cup car around the track.... :D

Various strange happenings:
- Car cuts out randomly (plenty of fuel)
- Fuel gauge does not show full tank - when full
- Rev counter sticks
- Loosing revs when at idle - it revs lower than it normally does
Sometimes dying completely

Hmmm....

Did Ragnotti give it the beans through the corners? it would be interesting to watch him from inside the car. Sorry to hear about the misfire though, hope you get it sorted.

alternator charging correctly?

Yes... charges correctly - lots of cranking power etc.
Car is hesitant to go "on" power after ideling and cruising. Wont accept full throttle.
50-75 % throttle deems fine....

I'm thinking lambda?

Don't know your engine setup but a breather pipe perhaps or do you have a throttle position sensor?

it's sounding more like your TPS sensor may be faulty. Best way would be to plug the laptop in and see what signals your getting from it. May even be a loose wire

Hi Danny,

After driving from Belgium to Denmark yesterday i think you might be right.
The last 300 km was a challenge.
It only reacted to approximately 1-2mm of travel on the pedal. (just after the idling resting point of the throttle pedal)

The rest was impossible to use.
Thank god for the low down grunt of the 2L.
Acceleration was as slow as a bus.

But made it home - hope there is no internal damage to pistons ets.
Temps was all good at all time.

Can i measure across the throttle pot meter to see values change?

i have the same problem. engine cuts out at around 3k rpm. if i turn the key and restart it will do the same for aproxx 3 times after that it runs fluently.

ive been told it might be the TPS but haven't test it yet.

Well... no unfortunately not... :(
TPS seems ok - ordered a new one though along with a new flywheel sensor...

Waitning to receive them and test :-/
