Cleaning the underbody parts from rust

Not sure if any of you have attempted to renovate/clean all the rusty components under the car.
What sort of methods are we looking at to remove rust from say the suspension components etc etc?Any products to recommend to protect there after?

Wire Brush on an agnle grinder to remove rust, and then paint, underseal etc afterwards.

I'd be tempted to use hammerite if there has been any rust as that wuill go straight over any that has been left
