Hi all

Would people recommend replacing these if doing a rebuild?

Thrust Washers - http://www.performanceenginecomponents.com/products/product.asp?id=250611

How many would you need for a Williams Engine? From my basic knowledge they stop the movement of components on a shaft, so I'm guessing they go on the crankshaft? I'm unsure how many I'd need to order.

Big End Bearing Set - http://www.performanceenginecomponents.com/products/product.asp?id=250608

Not worried about these as they are sold as sets, but I'd be interested to know the quantities and where they fit from some knowledgeable folk. :)

Also, is PEC Automotive a reputable place to buy these sorts of things from? I was also interested in their Piston/Rod package, as it comes in nearly £60 cheaper than buying the parts individually.

Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry, their piston & rod set is £134.70 cheaper than buying the pistons and rods individually. So a good saving if they are decent. :)

thats ****ing expensive for shells!!!!!!!!!!!!! should be able to get good quality big ends, mains, and thrust bearings for around £100 to £120 for the whole set. Something like Federal Mogul, AE, ACL.

To be honest, there's not many brands that wouldn't be perfectly good quality to use, this "heavy duty" thing on that site is very over stated. all normal ACL bearings are made to that spec, then their RACE series bearings have different coatings. Heavy duty generally suggests they're made for diesel engines and they also fit petrol variants.

Thanks for the reply. :D See I have no idea and just assumed that the price was the going rate. I will take a look at your suggestions so that I can get them cheaper. 8)

Thanks sideways danny!

Thanks again sideways danny, just looking on Federal Mogul's site now. You don't happen to know the quantities that I would need to order do you?

Here is a link to the page I am viewing:-

Any help greatly appreciated.

From Federal Mogul mate? Looks like they do a Piston Ring kit, yeah:-

For me, I was looking at the forged piston/rod kit from PEC Automotive and they come with piston rings and stuff in the set. So I haven't looked at getting them separate.
