Camskill just told me they are never going to have any in again. Asked about their R1R's and they don't know when they will get more.

Seems they are concentrating on sales for the Federal RSR's...

Shame. I wanted to test the RS2's :(

Give the V12 Evo K110's ago.

Not classed as an "extreme summer performance" tyre like the RS2 Z212's are, but still classed as an "ultra high performance" tyre.

I've had them on my old ST, which was supercharged, pushing out 280bhp. I had moved from Eagle F1 GSD3's which everyone knows to be a great tyre and I found the Hankook V12's to be great!

Slightly softer sidewall compared to the GSD3's if I had to be picky, but that's it. Sometimes I would loose traction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd if the road was damp. With the Hankook V12's I never had that issue. :)

My dad has them on his Audi S4, which is also pushing some serious power; 310bhp and similar torque. He has no complaints either.

And for the price in Williams fitment, they are worth a punt. Great deal from Camskill too. 8)

I'm going for the hankook's to replace my rear tyres. Going to put the T1R's on the back.

Wheels and tyres are next on my list to sort. Going to get Wheels sent down to MK, to be refurb'd.

Everywhere is selling out of the RS2's in 195/50.

Jamie: I think the grip difference may be *cough* entertaining, with T1R's on the back.

May stick with the R1R's then.

I like tyres with a good strong sidewall personally.

I had the toyo's on the back on my old cup, with Hankook V12's on the front, and i actually quite enjoyed it!

The toyo's will probably be worn out by then anyway, knowing how soft they are!

Best tyres I've had on mine are pilot sport cups but they are really pricey.
Only got 2 sets left now of the job lot I bought and can't find anymore at sensible money.

Try the Federals? i hear they are supposed to be good (RSR, RS959?), i was very very close to buying the Yoko Advan AD03's they look a pretty brutal tyre, but couldnt justify £75 each while my suspension isnt setup, as i knew i would munch a set in no time at all, but definately looking to get some in the future.

Best road tyres I drove on a Williams is Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 in 195 50 15.
I'm on my second set now, and it's much better tyre than T1R for example.
It's less noisy, it doesn't wear as much, handling is far more direct and superior on Pilot.
Amazing tyre. Even in wet, it's breathtaking tyre for a fair price.

Had P Zeros on the Scoob. I loved them. I hate T1R's personally, they wheel spin for a living those things. Cant imagine what they'd be like with my power output, and don't want to know either!

May try PE2's on my spare set of alloys.

It's my worst nightmare choosing tyres, cause if you get it wrong you have to live with them till the next change.
Dont really care if their good in the wet or dry..what is important for me is feedback from them, no tramlining and low road noise.

yea, totally!

The R1R's are good but I want to try something new. May just get some more if need be as I have no complaints really. The grip in the dry is mental.

If they give you, and you gain confidence, then it's a no brainer really. then all you gotta worry about is running out of talent . :P
They do look the nuts anyway :D

So which are the connoisseur's choice of tyres for this season?

R1R's
Tried and trusted Michelin's PE2's
Yoko Advans
Hankook V12
T1R's

Decisions decisions..

Had a couple of PE2's put on my fronts this weekend to replace the parads spec 2's.

PE2's are the better tyres IMO, far less crashy and more comfortable, less noisy (not that that matters when you have ITB's lol), grip is great and they are supposed to last a good while.

No complaints :)

I've ordered the Advan Neova AD08's this time, just to get an education on the differences between trackday/fast road tyres first hand.

Reading nothing but great reviews on the 08's. Seems a vast improvement over the 07 model. I would also go along with Laine and say that the suspension would have to be spot on for them. Have a set of yoko's 539's and they have never let me down thus far. Adore the Michelin's too.
Are you lads fussy on the size's or are you going standard fitment?

I'll be playing about, driving myself nuts, with my suspension settings with these tyres. I will get my Kw v2's in the post next week as well as my tyres.

Also have new track rods, ends, and wishbone balljoints to fit so will get the tracking all done once I am happy with the height :)

Fun fun fun!

Sounds like you'll be the fastest among Mk1's on next track day. Good work Wobba! =D>

I am in the same boat, going for one of V12, PE2 or A048's. Just depends how much of a 'track day' tyre i want for mainly road use. But seeing as i am only going to be using car in good conditions, it shouldnt be a issue.

Size wise, i am going to be going 195/50 profile, as i don't feel the original 185/55 profile warrants the inflated tyre prices.

I've got Continentals on my Willy and Falkens on my Z4 and both are spot on and do their job superbly.

Kumhos are also decent tyres but not sure if they make them in Willy size :-/

Well I spent 5 quid on a tyre gauge and I reckon I'll just need the 2 rears changing to get it past it's MOT.
The sterling is strong against euro at the moment so it's hard to find cheaper prices at the mo.

Are the continentals the standard size or did you go 195?
