Seems to be a lot more copied crap about than genuine stuff for the williams sadly.
Things like trying to get hold of the INA lifters, its all rubbish on ebay claiming to be "OEM Spec" but they arent INA ones at all.
:(
I have renault software on this pc and can get hold of it at a very very good discount.
I will be opening up a specialist french car parts website in the near future, so if anybody wants anything in the mean time, let me know.
If you can get me a set of INA lifters in a hurry im interested, get me a price ASAP please.
Chip those ones on ebay do the job just fine
I can get hold of the other lifters, but the INA ones have been phased out by renault, it looks like they have been superseeded.

Not good enough for me sorry, wouldnt trust them on track, they end up sounding like a ****ing two bob watch after a sustained track session with frequent venturing over 7krpm.
They are a fifth of the price for a reason, lol
But if they work well for you then thats cool, just not what I want.

yep and based on my own experience the INA that were standard in my own car sounded like the "two bob watch" your on about after a 24 hour 1200 mile trip last year. Not good enough for me either.
If you killed a set of brand new INA lifters that quickly I would have been taking them back and demanding a refund personally!
I agree but my issue was more to do with low oil levels.(I think)
I'd be fussy about timing belts, brakes, clutch cables etc, things that if they go wrong spell disaster but a lifter seizing up ain't the end of the world. Once your getting the correct oil up to them then they should be hunky dory no? I'll let you know in a few years time though when iv'e run mine for a few miles.:)
Renault are a big outfit for a reason, they charge what they like on consumable parts and they have to as they have big overheads to cover.
But it's important also that you choose whatever gives you peace of mind as your the guy paying at the end of the day.
Just my tupence worth..
See you.
Fab.
Yes renault are putting a big mark up on them, but they are still a better quality product to begin with.
Failure isnt a big issue in terms of wrecking other components but they are a fair amount of work to change again, so i'd sooner just do it correctly the first time than put in ones that IME dont last long enough.
I think we all try buying cheap once, but personally I wont be doing so again having seen how little time they last, my time to replace them is worth more to me than the money saved on getting the cheap ones in the first place.
Im sure they are ok for a while on a road car where its not revved and not on cams with an agressive ramp rate, but when you are running cams that are on the limit of what a hydrualic follower can cope with anyway the last thing you want is followers that arent as good.
You know who would be a good person to ask..Wobba (and he drives like an animal )
I know he fitted trecchis tappets before the recent build, but he did say they had got loud again.
Now since then he's had the car in for other work so maybe Danny and him can enlighten us all.
I'm with you on the OEM thing, but I like a bargain!
Yes it sounds like his feedback would be good.
How long has he had them in there before they "got noisey again" are we talking several years and 10s of thoudands of miles like the INA ones tend to last even on hot cams, or are we talking just half a dozen trackdays over a season or two?
On my first engine I had severe issues with tappets. It got so bad it sounded like a Scooby and the tappets were very loud, especially after a run with Arj256 and Matt Wills one fine Sunday. I had a loss of power too.
I got some of trechis tappets, primed by squidging them loads and leaving in oil overnight.
Opened up the head, got the old ones out. Fitted new ones. Job done. Sounded fine, slight tapping, but nothing major and it went away.
Year later, APD took that head off. It's in Leighanne's shed currently. I had replaced the bottom end by this stage. Stan was to fit new tappets (from an Ebay supplier) in the 714 head he had worked on, not re-use the ones in the old Willy head.
The tappet noise was noticeable from when I got the car back in 2010, in fact, it's the first thing I noticed when I collected the car. I thought about replacing them again but then went with the Hill Power head a year later when the car went to 519 Automotive. We stuck with the tappets in the HP head, don't know what design they are, but they are totally fine.
I don't think the trechi ones are bad at all. The time I used and fitted them myself, I can 100% say they are fine.
TBH doesnt really sound like you had them in for long there?
But I guess a lot of people will be happy if they get a year out of them for the price of them.
you pays your money and takes your chance at the end of the day, but personally I'd sooner use cleaned up standard high mileage ones than the new substandard ones.
chip try arrow rods they do quality lifters for the F7

Arrow only do mechanical ones as far as im aware? Or are you saying they also are a dealer for INA hydraulics?
