Lowering the back torsion bar

You will need:

M10 threaded bar
M10 nuts and washers
~32mm 1/2" drive(or bigger) socket
15mm spanner (for the M10 nuts)
LOTS of 'plus gas' or other penetrating oil
Trolly Jack
Axle Stands
Tape measure
Wheel brace
Hammer

SOAK the end of the tornsion bar in plus gas a few dasy before under takignt he procedure.

Soak again before starting.

Jack up rear of car abd support on axle stands (see jacking thread).

Remove wheel(s)

SUPPORT the rear trailing arm wiht the jack, just to take the weight, dont' actually lift it.

Screw the M10 threaded bar into the end of the torsion bar.

Thread on, in this order, socket, washer, nut.

Tighten the nut, thus pulling the torsion bar out of the socket (hopefully). The socket needs to be the same size as the torsion bar socket, and big enough inside to accomodate the torsion bar itself.

once the torsion bar is out, unscrew the threaded bar, beign careful not to turn the torsion bar itself.

Jack the rear trialing arm up the desired amount, ie 35mm or 55mm etc, the amount you wanna lower the rear end by.

Slot the torsion bar back in, you mgiht need to rotate it slightly.

Hammer it fully home.

Remove jack and refit road wheel.

Repeat procedure on other side.

Lower car to see a (hopefully) lowered car.

If you get it slightly wrong you can always jack it up again and adjust it
