View Full Version : Fitting Widetrack
Last few days I've been fitting Widetrack to my RT. TBH I thought it would be easier, but anyway it will be done either way. Most trouble I had with steering rack. I had to get it of the car to change steering arms for Kangoo ones due to Widetrack and very bad condition of the drivers side old one. Some pictures.

^^You can see in this picture that Kangoo one is longer than standard Clio ones which is just perfect for Widetrack.

Fully assembled steering rack. Still a lot of work ahead but the main thing is that rack is back on the car fitted which was nightmare but I'm glad it's done now.
Oh man, the track rods are hard work. Good effort getting it done :)

Yeah, very hard. Wouldn't do it again TBH.
You can actually do them on the car.
There is a special tool. Many garages will use a blowtorch as well too loosen the locking washer.
Passenger side one isnt too bad with it still on the car, but sod doing the drivers side one like that, definately a better option just taking it off I reckon.
Car is at home. :D I'm tired, pictures and report later.
Pictures as promised.

^^I love this picture. :droool: Wide much?
List of parts:
-R19 wishbones
-Kangoo track rods(longer than Clio items due to Widetrack)
-Clio track rod ends
-R19 Chamade wheels(15"x6.5J) with some budget tyres(195/50 R15)
-Valver/Williams front brake calipers and 259mm discs with new Ferodo brake pads
-Valver/Williams wings and arch liners
-Eibach front lowering springs(-35mm)
-driveshaft solid spacers
-R19 brake hoses
It just needs some lowering at the back to match the front, bleeding brakes and some other details. Other than that everything is working ok(drove it home from Robi's workshop, approx. 13km).
Again, BIG thanks to Robi for lending me his workshop and tools to get this done. Thanks mate! :D And of course BIG thanks to Leigh-Anne for sending me some of the parts, you're a STAR! 8)

Yeah, no problem mate. Pleasure was all mine!
Car looks really great. I really like the colour now. We just fit a decent engine in there and you have an awsome sleeper! :D

Yep, next thing on the list is the engine. :) This car keeps me busy all the time.
I think an interesting spring/summer is ahead with all the projects yet to be done/finished in your workshop Robi, especially resurrection of the No. 6035... 8)
excellent work mate
looks brutal :-)
Thanks for nice comments! :) Yes, car is totally different now, it went from "another sh*te Clio" to a monster.

Probably the hardest part was to get steering rack out and to change track rods. Other than that everything went quite smothly thank God.
Note for those who plan changing the track rods:
Track rods that I used are from:
-Kangoo 1.2/1.4/D55/D65(year 1998 onwards)
-length of the rods: 283.5mm(aprox. 18.5mm longer than Clio items)
-threads: M12x1 and M14x1.5
-I used PAS ones(there are also Non-PAS)
