View Full Version : throttle position sensor
are they available from renault or elsewhere brand new ??
I think you can get it new from Renault, but it's mental price. You must also recalibrate it when fitting, IIRC.
what pisses me off is that it says on it , its made in England .
they should be cheap .
that calibration business is a lot of baloney IME

what is the calibration procedure?
I got one from renault a couple of years ago, it was over £100. 'Calibrated' it by ear and a bit of trial and error.

I don't exactly know the procedure but special Renault tools must be used to do it properly IIRC. I think it's related to the fact that the throttle opening value is not voltage but in numbers from 0 to 255. It's Renault and their specialty to make things complicated.
Actually, procedure is written in Williams Clio manual, which Yanoo_ linked in Mechanical section. http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25066&start=40 Page 56 in that PDF.
XR 25 is the special tool.
is the XR 25 still available? and where can this tool be bought? and approx how much?
Ancient piece of tech. Seem to remember they cost a fair whack if you can find them.
are there any other diag tool that costs less?
messing about with it and sourcing an X25 is just hassle.

i need to replace mine as the turbo showed signs of a fooked TPS.
cutitng off / me starting it again / cutitng off ...... x 3 at acceleration. after the 3the time it will run without any problem.
Just get a used throttle body with TPS attached and make sure the wires are in good nic.
tis back in stock yall !!!

I've ordered in an aftermarket sensor, and i'm going to test it out. If it's all nice and gives a good quality signal then i'll organise a group buy on them. Dont say i never do anything for you ;)

there are some dub boys next to my mates unit ( yes i got mates :P :P )
i always thought the clio rsi throttle body looked very similar may be even fittable to the 16v . any thoughts on that ?

looks like a cheaper copy of the webcon one. I've not had great expereince of cheap TPS's. I rn one on my throttle bodies and it produced loads of electrical noise and gave very random readings
