So I found this lying in one of the back seat pockets of my Williams 3.

Rubbish camera phone photo - but it's a metal tube sprayed black, approximately 300mm long and 2mm thick with 11mm holes in each end. It has apparently cracked at the square end and then been re-welded and filed down. Looks like some kind of supporting bracket?

Does anybody know what is it? Do I need it?

It looks like the bracket that attaches to the gearbox and dog bone mount??
If it is, then I've seen loads of Clio's without them. so can't be that important!

Dilley's right, it's the extra support bracket found on the williams between the dogbone mount and the gearbox.
The car's he would have seen without them are 16v's.

Thanks - that's it!

Found a better image of the bracket on someone's post here: http://www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40589

I was going to swap the poly'd dogbone mount from my old car over and put on new exhaust mounts this weekend so I'll see what's there.

poly exhaust mounts, btw:

Thanks for solving the mystery - and really for digging out that picture - I was just starting to wonder which way it fitted!
