hi walters, asked the same question not too long ago. The answer is not without breaking it into a gazillion pieces!
I even had a butchers on a broken car and it's well stuck in there.

They can be removed but you have to cheesewire it out and this damages the surrounding bodywork, so only feasible on a scrap car, not one your keeping.

8) Thanks guys... I was hoping there was conclusive evidence that it can be done..I have tried twice now!! my windscreen did have a minor crack in it and i decided to try and remove it in one piece as a practice attempt  end result was as fab says smashed to a million pieces. also tried the cheese wire mat on a scrap car and managed to smash that one to pieces too :P Fair play the guy didnt charge me and he has another 3 mk1s in there for me to try :D when i say cheese wire it was actually a clutch cable and it burned through rather than glide, will try and get some cheese wire somewhere and have another go, bound to to get 1 out of 3, will let you know how i get on

It's not actual cheesewire i use, generally a clutch/accelerator cable but just 1 strand from it.

 think i see where your going wrong there fab! Will have a scour to see what handy tools can be bought as i wont spend 150 on a windscreen on my hybrid, if i fail it will be one of those "i fixed it" type efforts with a georgian window complete with lead beading glued in there! Thanks guys
