Mot is due so I've had a dig through my reciepts for this year. I was surprised to learn that I've spent nearly 3 grand on 123 in the last 12 months on maintenance and servicing. :(

Sadly, yes.

Plus, I have to sort out a forged short block for the car at the beginning of 2011 and get some welding/bodywork done and sort a few other things. Not cheap, but should see power well over 200, which will be enough for this car, and see the end of rusty arches and sills.

After that I can sit back a bit and relax for a few weeks before blowing it up at some track day.

Spent about £700 on mine in the summer sorting out various bits for MOT, service and trackday, spending some more at the end of Dec getting the cambelt done and a few other bits and bobs, so will be over the grand mark by the end of the year.

Ha! I had a few years of trouble free motoring when it was in storage. :)

Actually, he's been very good for the 10,000 Miles I've done this year, not skipped a beat.

Question is...... where do you draw the line? lol.

People tell me that i am crazy when i tell them i have spent over £4k on the car.

A&P
15-12-2010, 21:12
The thing is every time you drive it bet you dont think of the money you spent (until the next time something brakes) and you draw that line under your signature in your cheque book to pay for the next part that fails.

It bugs me because I cant think of another car I want to buy.

As a car for everyday use a Williams ain't all that, its got a funny driving position, its old, its got a heavy clutch, it smells a bit funny....but when you take it out properly none of it matters because its such a fun car.

I might buy a Jag, to waft about it.

Anyone want to place bets on the cost of getting through the MOT tomorrow?

Approx £1,500 which includes changing the gearbox for a new Reanult item and a new subframe...

Even though the engine went back in in March, the money was spent last year....
