Hi guys.
I had a map on my car for a while which was quite heavily retarded, meaning the charge left the engine late, via the exhaust ports, making the manifold, and I imagine the valves very hot.
The manifold was cracked on this map, I suspect the fact it got hot enough to glow red under the heat wrap was the reason.
My question is this: could the exhaust valves also be damaged enough to cause intermittent misfires and a drop in power?
Bear in mind this damage would have occurred before I got the car and I imagine would have gotten worse with time.
Anyone got any pics of heat damaged exhaust valves?
I guess a compression test may reveal some of this and a leak down would pinpoint the exhaust valves, right?
Just a theory...
