hi, can anyone tell me if replacing the rear brakes on a williams is a pain to do, i see on ktec that you can buy the discs with the bearings pressed into them, so i presume then that its not just a matter of taking off the discs and pads and sticking on new ones, the bearings are built into them??? just that a williams im thinking of buying needs new rear brakes so want to budget for the job and make him an offer accordingly.

You could source parts for just over £100 if you get good pads and an hour to fit?

Ideally yes they need to be changed. You can get a pair of discs with bearings fit about £80 from eurocar parts

False economy to fit new discs to used bearings imo

It's not really worth trying to press the bearings out of the old and into the new. Just buy a new pair with bearings already installed. Then it is just a simple case of undoing the main nut (check you have the correct size socket handy - I think it is a 28mm or 30mm iirc - I can check for you if you don't have one and need to know to buy one) which is under a cover that you need to prise off, then remove the caliper and tap the disc with a hammer and it should slide off the shaft, then just slide the new one on, refit caliper, put on a new nut, torque up and replace the centre cover. Quite a simple job really.
