I am possibly buying a williams as a weekend car therefore wish to get a classic car policy.

I used to use Hagerty insurance but they would no longer offer cover so I am after suggestions of places to try?

I looked at Admiral when I recently purchased my Williams and were pretty cheap. however ended up with Peter Best Classic insurance http://www.peterbestinsurance.co.uk/ amazing deal happy to talk about non standard items, agreed values (just submit a few photos) with zero no claims I got my willy 3 insured fully comp with a £50 excess (yes £50) for £240 inc 12 months full breakdown cover. Worth giving them a call? I'm 34, no convictions etc with mileage limited to 3k

I thought about calling them see if I could negotiate a club discount?

Just been on the Peter Best website, it looks really good. The maximum mileage allowed is 5000 but I think i could stick to that!

I guess they insure Williams 2 & 3's, not just 1?

I've heard that they only currently insure Williams 1's as "classic"....

No need to negotiate any sort of club discount, I mentioned this place and my quote went from £315 to £265 :D

On what?

I called up and got a quote of £166 with a named 27 year old driver, 5000 mile limit, social and commuting use, breakdown cover and £200 excess.

I have found in the past with classic policies commuting is strictly excluded. I opted for the £200 excess instead of £100 which reduced the premium about £30.

That is very good. Is that a Williams 1?

I am 27, how many years NCD do you have? I presume you have to pay the premium in one lump sum?

I am 30. As it is a classic policy it is not bonus rated. I never asked about payment options considering how low the premium was.

You guys are getting your insurance so cheap. I bought my wiliams 2 in June this year and I live in Northern Ireland no company in Northern Ireland would touch the car so I started to get quotes from England it took me 10 companys none would insure me until the last one which did it for £550 fully comp 1000 mils a year.

It was the best quote I got and Im 35! but over here we have always payed alot more for car insurance.
