Was RPX originally supplied by a garage called Simpkins?

I don't think I have the original sales invoice but the service book shows it was Simpkins that did every service up to 66,000, so I would think they probably did supply it, yes. I would be interested to hear any info on the car - do you know Colin?

I am not sure who Colin is? I am pretty sure Simpkins only sold the one Williams and RPX would be the correct ending to the registration number, it would be nice to find out as I remember the car coming in and everyone wanting to look at it. The guy who bought it was a bit fussy and I remember he didn’t want anyone to drive it before he did, does the service book have a supplying dealer stamp in the front?

Oh yes, it does indeed - Simpkins! Sir Colin Stanfield Smith, a renowned architect and first class cricketer, is the guy I believe would have been the first owner as I have lots of service history at Simpkins with his name on it. Did you work at Simpkins at the time then? Did you see the owner - not that you would necessarily recognise him now but I found a portrait of him:

Yes I used to work there in my own time with one of the Simpkins running our Cup cars, however I did actually valet your car before it was delivered.
I don’t remember ever meeting the owner.
It looks like it has been kept well over the years, I was actually going to post on here to see if anyone had the car but I could not remember its number, so it is good to see it
:D

As Matt says, that's the track toy. Recognise the tailgate on it that was kindly stored in your garage for a few weeks?!?!
