Hey there guys, I will present you my Williams, later I will present my other two hot-hatches.
My Williams is 1993, 140 000 km (87 000 miles approx.), Phase 1.
Mint interior, bodywork - no rust at all, mechanical in mint state (except for the clutch - just ordered a new 215mm Valeo). It needs repaint and wheel refurb, as 17 years left their mark on the paintjob and wheels. Doddgy oil pressure gauge needs sorting (as I've read they are accurate as shooting stuff with a shotgun from 100 miles distance... LoL
Will be restoring this car step by step, just like I'm doing it with my Gt turbo.

Sorry for the bad pictures quality, gayPhone quality innit... :D

That looks lovely.

Is that a horse shoe in the boot? :D

I was just wondering the same thing, lol.

Looks very nice, next job a wheel refurb? :D

its lucky, of course every clio owner should carry one!

Cheers for your comments guys :)

Yes, it's a horseshoe, and as Clio-Girl told you, it brings luck and fortune :D
TBH, this car has a myth, this horseshoe is in the boot for 15 years now!!!
I wanted to take it out, but the owner I bought it from told me not to do it!

:D

Funny!
My plan is the clutch change(original Valeo), wheel refurb and complet respray!
That should bring it back to it's mint condition :)

I love the car, very powerful, loving the torque in the low range rpm's... :)

Thank you once again, and excuse my bad english. If I make gramatic mistakes, I hope you won't mind it since I'm not from the UK.

Cheers people! :)

Ha ha, with the amount of bad luck I had with my car, I need a truckload of horseshoes in my boot!

I love your car mate! Looks like it's been well looked after. I just hope you will keep it for a while (you look like a proper french hot hatch lover - BTW your collection would complement mine nicely  ).

If you need anything, just PM me (you can write in Croatian if you want to).

this car does not need a respray looking at the great condition of the original paintwork!

if it does need paint do it locally if u can!

Williams were clearly nit made for the UK/wet. That one looks ace.

The sticker looks to be infilled (no reflection of the white line) and the bump strip is from a 16v.

^^^^^^^^ listen to the man....

looks clean tho

Markic
29-09-2010, 10:02
jep, that sticker is replaced, as the original one was in a poor state.
bump strip is from a 16v as I lost one part of it, and couldn't find Williams strip in Croatia, as I think mine is the only one, so I had to go for a 16v strip ;)

Will sort it out when I respray the car.

The paintjob looks good in the pics, but it's full of scratches and little dents, so I has to be done
:D

Thanks to everyone for the comments, I hope you will help me with advice and everthing else.

I am really impressed with the car, it's really strong, pulls like a train, handling is awesome, I really love this car! :)

robi, thanks, will be contacting you soon! to meet! :D

VERY nice!

How much did it cost you to rebuild your gearbox?

It seems not many people bother doing this in the UK because of how much it costs!

robi1000
01-10-2010, 12:26
Ha ha, I'm sure he did it by himself or with the help of a friend or two. Down here you do it yourself or it's not done properly (most of the time).

I really like that new clutch. It's so... New.

Markic
01-10-2010, 13:17
As Robi said, we've done it ourselves, or noone would do it as it should be done.
I bought all the parts from renault. The price of the parts was 300 quid, what is a bargain! Clutch 90 quid. Oil, ball joints and other stuff are chips and change tbh.

:)

cliokiz
01-10-2010, 13:45
To be fair thats a reasonable price indeed.

But what 'special' tools do you need to disassemble and reassemble a gearbox?

Doubt it's something i could do.

Markic
01-10-2010, 14:02
why not matey? no some really special tools to do, it's all the same, like on the R-5 it's pretty simple. :)

cliokiz
01-10-2010, 15:07
I'm pretty sure i've heard that you need some crazy kinda tools to be able to dismantle and reassemble a gearbox?

Oh that, the guys who own the garage(my friends) have the tools. But they are like home made?!
I thought you meant you need tools for taking the box off lol
:D
I gotta say it's a big work tho, not for the begginers. Everthing has to go off underneath!

Markic

In the meantime my friends, car is on the road fully restored.
There are still few things that need to be done, but they are minor, small adjustments. I had a lot of problems with the paperwork of the car and registration in Croatia, because it was the only Williams in the Croatia buyed in Paris from new and imported to Croatia, but in Croatia catalogues, there was no such car?!? In the papers it said Clio C57M 2.0 115kW, and noone seemed to know what is it?!? So after the hassle and homologations, car is done and it's brutal. I'm enjoying every single moment in it!

Car specs:
- 1993, Nr. 1333, 141.000 kilometers (88.000 miles)
- Full body restored and repainted in original 449 Sports blue
- Full wheels restore and painted in original color code (a.nobel)
- Full transmission rebuild, new clutch, new suspension
- K&N panel filter with custom made air feed, Renault sport chip Gr. N spec
- Gr. N exhaust with restricted backbox (law, because of the noise...)

To come:

- GAZ collies
- brake upgrade

Not into the 17's though

It's not a shame mate. Car was full of scratches and rears were rusty.
Now it's like new, a job was done by the best shop, so it's really what the car needed.

It's on studs because previous owner thought that would look cool. How wrong was he?

I don't like them either, but it's his "personal touch" and despite everybody telling him that he should change back to original, he will keep it this way. :D

What's the weight of these 17'' rims?

PS: You must be loaded! Such rims cost a fortune, especially in magnesium.

that's exactly what I was thinking

Is ride height standard?

Markic

Yes, car is on standard suspension, and I'm not lowering it.
It drives best on oem suspension, as the roads in Croatia are in mess :(

Yeah, same in Slovenia. OEM suspension is best for road driving.

Planned to go for GAZ, then Robi made me change my mind.
In the meantime I wanted KW's, but gave up.

Ha ha, there's still time for you to gear up with some GAZ or KWs. We should do a trackday or two at Grobnik next year. Coilovers should come in handy there.

Just remember to cherish those Speedline Magnesium rims, I'll take them off your hands if they are ever for sale (and not sold yet). 8)

Past and present. I must admit I like the past more, especially power-wise. 200 can't keep up with Willy on the straights.
The suspension on the other hand is a great piece of kit on Clio 200.

Hello guys, i bought 2333 from Markić.
It got set of new oem shock apsorbers, when we got the old shock apsorbers down, we saw a new problem one spring was cracked, becouse new oem springs were too expensive i decided to buy apex springs. I also bought centar caps for rims becouse i missed two.

55405541

on the right side is cracked spring

5537

some pictures of car with apex

55385539

I still didnt drove it, so i do not know how the car behaves on apex springs.
Does anyone have experience with Apex springs, they are thinner than the original, I'm afraid that the car would be softer?

You can use Clio 16V or 172 springs as they're the same as Williams springs. Did you tried with hand which spring felt softer? Although Apex springs in this picture doesn't look like they're progressive, they might be softer than original Williams.
You can also use 182CUP springs which are aprox. 33% harder than original Williams and they lower the car around 15mm.

Čestitke na nabavi mrcine =D>

Yes, Clio 1.8 16V, 2.0 16V, 172 ph.1 and 172 ph.2, have identical front springs (two white dots), here is the proof
5556

I drove 172 ph.2 with Apex and the next day with stock springs and the difference was huge! I couldn`t drive it very hard with Apex, being on the bump stops all the time, no travel at the front at all! Almost dangerous too say at least, so I suggest you change to stock ;-)

Renault Klub Slovenija is planning a trip to the coast (Portorož) in 23.3., we could meet there if you have time ;-)
