This isnt clio related but i thought it might be worth asking on here..

My friend has bought a Nissan Skyline 2.5 turbo. Which is an absolute beast.
Recently however its started making a nasty whining/screeching on boost when cold. It almost sounds like either a load of air escaping (whistling) or a thrust bearing prehaps.. The problem goes away when the car reaches operating temp. There is no noticable loss of performance. Cant see any leaks around the turbo and no oil in the air pipes.

Is the turbo likely to be on its way out? Noisey till oil gets in?? Or could it be something different?

Any thoughts welcome before we start pulling things apart.

Cheers.

Been doin a bit of research. Thinkin the oil feed to the turbo might be blocked? Can anyone back this up?

For starters make sure he doesnt nail it cold, very very bad for any car but esp turboed cars, If its heat related then i would look at the gaskets on the turbo/manifold, the turbo should be oil as soon as the car is started as it works off oilpressue :)
