cant get the damn thing off. all bolts removed. crank in a position to allow the sump to drop to the lowest point BUT it will not clear those gearbox bolts.
Doesn't matter which way I twist and turn it will not come away from block. engine is well high of the subframe.
any suggestions?whats the trick?

Are you sure you've undone them all? That should just slide off :?

Shouldn't have to do anything with the crank either :? Only issue I had when I done it was the subframe got in the way of sliding the sump across to clear those studs in the box

Hi.
do you know where the power steering pump bracket attach's to the sump? is that a bolt or a nut?
because i think that may be the problem where the sump is not dropping enough to slide across and out.

Christ on a bike! This is bringing back fond memories of a snowy afternoon in november freezing my nuts off - most definately not fun

Bear with me as I was quite hungover when I done this so the details are a bit sketchy
That PAS bracket is definitely not attached to the sump, but I think those studs in the gearbox had to come out, I think a couple of them came out when I undid the nuts so that might have helped.

Whip them studs out & see if that helps

Yeah, the studs need to come out.

yep got the fooker out. had to move the gearbox rather than attempt to take those studs out. there is a blacktray inside the sump which will not allow it to just slide left and drop out. you need to clear those studs that attach gearbox to block.
ah well lesson learnt :)

Should be easy to get the studs out, use 2 nuts on them
