Apart from this bush and the bush in the bottom of the gear lever where would there be slop in the system ? (i have a rose jointed gearlever so non there.

When in 3rd for example i can still move the gear lever 1 inch to the left and right.....

That sounds me elbow-joint problem: worn bush or split rubber spacer/washer.

A special bush can stop / decrease this free play:
