What products and service level do people want from a tuner ? and also what do people not want from a tuner ?

be nice for a tuner to run a range of tested packages..

and engine dyno facility so ever thing can be verified..

gearbox upgrades under 6k..

but a complete service as above mods fitted tested supplied with print out..

and a chassis tuning service too.

There are some great pieces of incite to what people want on here and really is align to my thoughts about what people want.

Very soon i will be launching an engine / gearbox / motorsport services company, all built on site including all machining / balancing etc. Based on the experience and £10k's spent rallying and developing my rally car, renault specific offerings will be the start. All engines will be dyno proven, fully mapped and ready to go, no bullshit figures and even aftercare warrenties etc. Customer service will be the number one priority as this will be a company where it prides its self and customer satisfaction. Thing will be on the shelf for exchange so turnaround times will be vastly reduced, we dont aim to build 10 engines a month as this is not the focus of the company.

More details soon but we are also looking for a customer who will be willing to help develop some road/trackday engine packages with the benifit of the engine being around half price........!!! So if your looking for an engine or gearbox rebuild let me know im sure we can accomodate your needs.

if you want any advice on what actually works, and what doesnt.

and what is necessary to build a quick engine mate..il be only too happy to help. as it seems most 'respected tuners' have been trying to catch my back street builds for many years ;)

and as jon says......for mapping..there is only ONE place to go.....ppl asking advice on here and then completely dismissing it to go to inferior 'tuners'....and i use that word extremely lightly....is unbelievable

TBH,I have found in the first instance when you want a "modified" engine,ANY sort,it is a gamble,PPL have bad builds ~~ no One is ever 100%,but it is the way they treat you,to get the end result.I have been using the same bloke to build my Renault engines since my 5GT Turbo days (1989) and I would never ever change,After Mull last year he called me "I think it is time,WE had a look see at that engine~~ my records show it aint been touched for quiet a while etc etc"
He is not dear,and knows his stuff.
I am sure everyone has there fave builder.I find a lot of ppl tend to be "led" by the tuners claims of massive horsepower figures etc etc,but who rarely substantiate the claims.
Years ago,there was a local Rolling road specialist GRV,and the guy when asked what is it giving at the wheels his reply "PLENTY !!!!".These people were leaders in saloon car racing at that time.
His logic:~ If you are are on the limiter in EVERY gear and getting beat ~~~ THEN you need more power,or different ratios,etc etc Worth thinking about
