Total gutted, had two gearboxes fitted to the car now that are shagged so just going to get one from renault. I have been told that you can get them for around 600quid so i phoned up my local arnold clark dealer and he said that the JC5-014 is coming up on the computer as not being made anymore. Are the overhauled boxes a different part number?

Just phoned another local dealer and they came back with a quote of £1072 and when i give them my old box i get £172 back so £900 all in.

sounds about same as an exchange box i have a reciept for from around 2005

Yeh expensive, but at least ill have a guaranteed gearbox that will hopefully last a while. JC5 boxes are awful :(

You say you will have warranty but unless renault fit the box for you they will just pull the 'operater error' excuse and blame the person who fitted it.
JC5 S09 is the refurbed box code.

So the JC5 S09 is the refurbed JC5 014 box for defo, just checking because i have to pay for it tomorrow before he can order it and i dont wanna order the wrong box up. Going to be an expensive day tomorrow :cry:

Yes defo, and if your lucky it will have a bolt in diff.

Yes, but because of the weak point of the diff circlip popping out they had a design change and bolted it in instead, if your lucky you will have one of these revised models.

Ok cool the gearbox that was originally in the car had circlips. Learn something new everyday on here. Fingers crossed its the revised mod then even although i haven't had any probs with the circlips yet.

If you get £175 back for your old box it netts at around £600 which isn't too bad IMHO compared to some of the other crazy prices Renault now charge...

£780 was after £175 surcharge i think, therefore £955 before.

Am i the only person that thinks 780quid for a gearbox aint that bad in comparison to some other manufacturers especially when you consider the age of the car, suprised they still even supply them.

I'd prefer £600 like i used to pay. :wink: But yeah, better than the lottery of buying a used one.

How long did it take you to get this from Renault? Mine's been on order for a week now and no indication yet of when it will arrive.... :cry:

Whats the code for a 172Cup box ? Will that be cheaper still as it newer ?

Direct fit just need the gearbox top mount.
