What Williams 2 or 3?

Currently looking at 2 Williams, 1 is a 2 that has had some useful new parts like brakes etc with a little rust on arches and a 3 that has 1 rusty arch plus sill. Look quite even in condition. Any preference or just go on condition?

go for the 2, lighter and doesnt have a sunroof.. personally would go for the 2.

Yeah heard there the best cos they don't have a sun roof but have the electric pack. Do like the blue on the 3 though : s.

Yeah I heard that rumour about the rust on 3's, wasn't sure if it was true.

Find a Willy 1, the original and best. Lighter than the rest and usually quicker as well as having the all important plaque.
^This. If you can find a willy 1 with a one or double number plaque i.e. 0001 or 0011.. everyone will be envious.. know i would be!!

Doesn't matter what number, just finding a straight rust free Williams 1 is hard enough these days. But I agree, a 1 is the best to go for, the other 2 phases don't appeal to me, just a hybrid imo... :wink:

apart from my willy 1 that is currently filthy and gets a good boot full most days a week rain or shine! in fact, it even comes to work every now and again if i dont fancy using the van!

just buy on condition more than anything else - have a look at both cars and then decide from there... but as people say the 3's do tend to rust more than the others...

Yeah will def only go on condition. Just quite like the blue on the 3. There's a clean 2 on eBay.

My rust free willy has done more miles on a boat than most 1's have done on the last 3 years!

mine has been a daily drive to work for last 4 1/2 years now using a bigger car (last 2 months) due to 3rd child in next 3 weeks :D

lookin like mine is now gonna sit on the drive for the time being till i either sell it or leave it till i can afford to insure 2 cars ??
pity seeing it sat doing nothing :(

but the Williams (especially the 1) is rapidly if not already reached classic status - in order to preserve them the good ones are now going to be looked after and used less frequently. I do 3k a year in mine and it's only a dry runner now - that's enough to ensure everything keeps moving fine!!

Yeah but yours is concours mint talkingfish, more of a show car really. I wouldn't use it at all if it were mine.

There are plenty on here that use their Williams 1's on a regular basis though, me, wobba, 2live to name a few, they are not all dry stored and not driven ;-)
