still cant decide on a new car i really like s3's even though peple dont rate them on here.cant afford 13/14k for one though.saw a nice 1.8t the other day more in my price range i know they arnt the quickest of cars but well built and look nice i think.just curious as to the difference between the engine in the a3 1.8t and the s3 i know its a 1.8t in the s3 as well any1 know what audi done to it to get power up???cant find much on internet...

Erm... the S3 got the 225BHP 1.8T Engine, and the 1.8T either the 150/180BHP Engine.

There the same engines pretty much but different internals etc. both are easily chip-able!

But personally if you cant afford a S3 i would look more towards a 1.8T MK4 Golf or Cupra over a A3... 8)

do u think with a chip and few other mods i could get decent power out of the 150 bhp a3 lump?

You would probably get it up to 200BHP with a couple of mild mods and an expensive REVO session etc... however i wouldn't recomend it, chiping up 20/30 bhp would be more suitable and more drivable!

My mates got a 225 Lump in a MK2 Rallye running 280BHP and like fook is it quick! But you can tell how peaky its become, power band comes up fast but leans of fairly quickly before the redline is anywhere near; not linear enough for my liking!

My mates got a mk4 golf gti turbo on a v plate. Its bassically the same car as a a3 1.8 turbo and got the same engine i think. (150bhp or 180bhp). Its bassically valver pace at higher speeds but i always whoop his ass to 60-70. A very good car though and i would recomend. He payed 7k for a v plate on 63k with fvsh and its mint.
