Hello all,

After my last trackday my Williams is making a high pitched whining noise around and just above 70mph. Seems to do it when in a straight line and cornering. I originally though it was just wheel bearings as I'm sure I can here a noise from the rear. I'm now thinking it might be the differential bearings which would be annoying as the box was brand new and has only done 8,000 miles.

When jacking the car up there is no play on any of the wheels to suggest the bearings are on their way out. Would the easiest thing be to replace all wheel bearings first and then failing that look at the gearbox?

Is pitch getting higher with speed? Is it whining only when on throttle and quiet when not?

doesn't matter if on throttle or not.

Sorry and yes seems to get higher with increase in speed.

does it go when you put it in neutral at speed ?
could be the gearbox you see .
or even the clutch release bearing if noise goes when you press the clutch pedal.

No change in the nosie if in neutral or with clutch pressed.
