I was lucky enough to meet Ray Grimes at Oulton, who used to race a clio cup back in 1991.

I asked him if he would like a go in my car seeing as it was team mates to his from the same garage.

He took me out in a twingo and to teach me the lines i drove a 200. I dont recon im too far of RACING PACE :winkey:

impressive, very fast pace from mr grimes, think i need to induge in slicks :P but am i under the impression that for trackdays if you run slicks you have t have a cage?

yes - trackdays now you need to have a cage in.

Slicks are £150 each so very expensive but well worth it.

However a set of Toyo R888's are almost as good and alot cheaper.

The nana going to be getting a cage soon :winkey:

When I watch some of these vids it amazes me how hard the rumble strips are. When you hit one it's like hitting a small kerb.

You'll need to learn how to heel & toe properly like he does :P

I didn't realise how ****ing hard they were! F1 cars make them look like rizzler papers.

I'm loving how he heal & toe down shifts into 7500rpm enabling him to have both hands on the wheel a split second sooner for the corner :D although I do think it could have been driven faster, maybe if it was his own car I guess 8)

to say he came straight out of the pits on clap cold slicks and in a car he hasnt driven for near 20years - i was well impressed.

Them kerbs are hard when you straight line them Jamie (FIA Standard)- not sure how many more it could of taken without something braking though haha.

Shame we only did those few laps and we got held up on the last 3/4 - i was gutted!

Was great to get his feedback on my car though 8)
