Guys - i have managed to organise a 5 person group buy for these quick shifters.

GET YOUR CAR READY FOR THE CLUB TRACK DAY!

They come fully recommended by my good self and are a vast improvement over standard, the ebay copies and the B&M shifters.

I have tested the 3 other shifters and this is far superior in both construction and performance.

Normal retail of these shifters is £140
My group buy price is £117

Feel free to check the product out.

http://www.mbcarperformance.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1321_1323&products_id=2930&osCsid=db8a3

They fit all the clio range and the R5's.

do they do a discount in the clutch pin aswell?

northy
26-07-2010, 14:14
yes - i tested the shorted pin but didnt like it.

If you want the pin stick your name down and i will get that as a extra

The shorter gearbox pin can cause complications in my experience of fitting two of these now.

do you have a genuine MB shifter though wobba ?

simonr85

how much harder is the pin to fit? and why didnt you like it?

northy

pin is dead easy to fit - i didnt like it as it shortened the 'throw' to much.

Was like a switch!

It could have been the pin I was using I guess. Had gear selection issues with both cars I tested with it AND the shifter at same time that's all.

I've got one of these and is good imo!

What makes this one worth double the price?

If you don't use the shorted pin the overall shift throw shortening is around 15 percentage. You would achieve the same shortening if you used the shorted pin together with the OEM gearstick and fixed ball joint housing (also known as Stiff Shift). In this case the gear knob does not sit lower and does not become hot in summer or cold in winter. This combination has already proven in many Hungarian Clios (from rally car to turbo'd drag Clio... currently this drag Clio is the 1st in the Street category in the Hungarian National Drag Race). By the way it's waaay cheaper.

So standard gear stick, with a short gearbox pin. Sound interesting.

Whats involved with installating the pin? gearbox apart job?

shortened pin? what is this you speak of?

do you mean the shortened selector rod?

richy
30-07-2010, 19:08
its just the small rod on the gearbox which your selector rod(from the lever) bolts to, its held in with a white plastic housing with a small circlip and feeds through the actual selector arm on the box.

just remove the circlip and carefully slide to white housing with the pin down and remove the white housing(splits in half) then slide the rod out of the main arm. and refit new shorter version

Yes, standard gear stick with small rod AND fixed ball joint housing with stiffer ball insert. This is the gear linkage kit:
