View Full Version : Welding the steering column
Has anybody ever welded the steering column on their williams to get rid of play in the steering and roughly how much would this cost as I need to get mine done fairly soon and would rather do this than buy a new rack!
Probably a question for Stromba this as I know he's done it to his williams and had some pictures knocking about somewhere. Does he still come on here BTW??
need this doing too! sloppy as hell! and mot time :x
did read a good bit on retro renault on gentlebens valver, he put shims or somthing in it, rather than weld
not sure mate! but i could give you his msn??? but i need his permission first
yea, just weld 2 short seams on, just be careful of your carpets and fire.

http://www.retro-renault.com/viewtopic.php?t=3887 - do a search for 'shimming' on this page...give it a while to load tho as theres about 130 pictures on it
I've had this done too and didn't get any of the vibrations apparently felt with this job. No problems at all. Cost me £30 courtesy of Bullcrusher, who comes on this site.
